Seven Layer Dip Pizza

February 3, 2017 By Marci Lutsky

When you attend a game day party, what food do you always go for first?  Seven layer dip for sure.  My husband came up with the idea for this recipe.  I think he missed his calling and should have been a recipe developer.  I made the pizza dough and chopped the ingredients.  He assembled it.  This pizza was such a huge hit.  My kids asked if we could have it every night for dinner.  Whatever your plans are for game day, make sure this seven layer dip pizza is on your menu.

Start by rolling out pizza dough.  You can make your own (so easy) or buy it from your local pizza restaurant.  You want your pizza stone to be really hot.  I usually preheat the oven with the pizza stone inside for at least 20 minutes at a high temperature.

Remove the pizza stone from the oven, transfer the dough to the stone and carefully spread the refried beans on the dough.  That gets cooked for about 10-12 minutes, until the dough gets crispy.  Make sure all of your ingredients are prepped so you can quickly build your pizza.  I used store-bought refried beans and made my own guacamole.

After the dough comes out of the oven, start making your pizza!  Spread cheese on top of the refried beans.  Starting from the outside, make circles first with the lettuce, then guacamole, tomatoes and sour cream.  If you like cilantro (I find it hard to believe that some people do not), sprinkle it on top.

We made two of these pizzas.  After the first one was finished, my husband had the idea to do a drizzle of sour cream over the whole pizza.  My daughter ran for her camera to get a picture of it.  My love of food photography seems to be rubbing off on her!  While this pizza is perfect for game day, it’s also perfect anytime and is going into our regular rotation.

Ingredients

  • 2 balls of pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
  • 1 15 oz can refried beans
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups guacamole, homemade or store-bought
  • 2 cups chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the pizza stone in the oven and preheat the oven to 425. I leave my pizza stone in the oven for about 20 minutes so it gets very hot. Roll out the dough. Remove the pizza stone from the oven and carefully place the pizza dough on the stone. Spread 1/2 can of refried beans over the entire dough. Carefully place the pizza stone in the oven and cook for about 10 minutes, until dough looks crispy. Remove the stone from the oven. Sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese over the dough. Starting from the outside, spread half of the lettuce in a ring about 1.5 inches thick. From the lettuce make an inner ring of guacamole (1/2 of guacamole) and then an inner ring of tomatoes (1/2 of tomatoes). The very center of the pizza should be filled with sour cream. Place the rest of the sour cream in a small ziploc bag and cut a small bit of a corner off. Squeeze sour cream over the rest of the pizza in a drizzle design. Repeat with second ball of dough and remaining ingredients.
